Society of St. Vincent de Paul
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul helps to feed, clothe, house and heal individuals and families in our community who have nowhere else to turn for help. Our volunteer members – known as Vincentians – are women and men who are compelled by our Catholic Christian faith to serve those who are needy and suffering.
St. Christine Christian Services’
St. Christine Christian Services’ (SCCS) programs began as an outreach ministry of St. Christine Catholic Church, Detroit (est. 1954). When the church closed in 2005, SCCS was formed as a nonprofit organization to continue the service initiatives for the community, foremost among them the Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry. Since 2009, the sponsoring church has been Christ the King, Detroit, for which SCCS is its primary outreach ministry.
Together with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, SCCS assists those in zip codes 48223, 48228, and 48219 (south of 7 Mile) with beds, furniture, rent, utility bills, temporary housing, and spiritual counseling.
Siera Literacy Center
