A Community Parish in the City

Called To Celebrate Baptism is designed to help you to prepare for this special day in your child’s life. You’ll join with other families in exploring the Sacrament of Baptism and the commitment it requires of you as parents. You’ll have many opportunities for personal reflection, sharing and dialogue. We extend a special welcome to our non-Catholic parents and hope you feel comfortable in participating in these sessions and sharing your stories.

Called To Celebrate Baptism

“Baptism is birth into the new life in Christ. In accordance with the Lord’s will, it is necessary for salvation, as is the Church herself, which we enter by Baptism.”

“A Sacrament is a sacred sign. Jesus is the sacrament of God because Jesus expresses the very words and saving actions of God. We believe that when Jesus died and rose, he gave his Spirit to the community who believes in him. Jesus’ followers are called to be a sacrament (a sacred sign) of his risen Spirit in the world.”

“The Christian home is the place where children receive the first proclamation of the faith.

For this reason the family home is rightly called ‘the domestic church,’ a community of grace and prayer, a school of human virtues and of Christian charity.” (CCC, no. 1666)
